Donald Trump’s latest brilliant idea:
Here’s what got that idea started.
Teachers are not buying this for a moment. Boston Globe:
“That’s an idiotic idea, from an education and school culture standpoint,” said state Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz, a Jamaica Plain Democrat and former teacher in Boston and Lynn, in a statement Thursday. “But let’s not be that dismissive of the President’s suggestion: arming schools and teachers across the country would be the dream of gun manufacturers and the NRA.”
Her criticism was echoed by Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, which represents 1.7 million educators nationwide.
“This is a terrible idea for SO MANY reasons!!!!” Weingarten said in a tweet Wednesday night. “Educators, students and parents do not want teachers to be armed.. we want AR-15s out of schools & sensible gun violence laws.”
Here’s a sample job description. Chicago Tribune:
We want teachers who have a love for children, a strong desire to make a difference every day, a minimum sharpshooter-level U.S. Army marksmanship qualification badge (preferably for machine guns and field artillery) and at least five confirmed kills.
Responsibilities include:
— Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.
— Work with parents to forge home/school partnerships that foster learning and growth.
— Keep children safe by slinging hot lead into the guts of savage interlopers.
— Perform lunchtime sniper tower and/or bathroom bunker duty as well as occasional justifiable homicide.
Job requirements:
— At least a bachelor’s degree along with requisite state teaching certifications.
— National Rifle Association membership card
— Mental ability to take human life and then quickly return to story time.
— Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, work indoors or outdoors and lock-and-load an AR-15 blindfolded while hustling children into a closet and screaming, “COME AT ME, MOTHER (EXPLETIVE), I WILL FRAG YOUR SICKO (EXPLETIVE)!!!”
Lib snowflakes need not apply.
Making America great again, all right.
