Hello, writers. In a week I’m off to merry old England, and then merry old Scotland. The following dought writers will be your Write On! hosts through the month of March:
March 1- strawbale
March 8- Clio2
March 15- bonetti
March 22- dconrad
March 29- Leo Orionis
Hosts, please tag your diaries “WriteOn” so that those who have subscribed to the series can find them. And please ask a Readers & Book Lovers editor (such a cfk, mettle fatigue… who else here is an editor, please?) to republish the diary.
And folks in general, if you’re not subscribed to the series, click the orange heart next to the “write on” tag on the left. That way you’ll have less trouble finding the diaries when I’m not hosting them.
So, before leaving for my trip to the UK, I’ve come to my mother’s house to do some grocery shopping for her and fill the freezer that I recently persuaded her to buy. As I was describing this to GussieFN, he said “You’re living in a writing prompt.”
I wasn’t sure what he meant by that so I asked.
A scene where one character fills another character’s freezer would be a good way to show the reader something about the characters’ relationship, he said.
It would, too. The important thing is to show, not tell. In tonight’s challenge:
Write a scenelet in which one character is putting food in the freezer of another character. Stay in the point-of-view of the character filling the freezer; don’t head-hop. Without telling us anything about their relationship, show us something about their relationship.
Try to limit yourself to 100 words.
Write On! will be a regular weekly diary (Thursdays 8 pm Eastern Time, 5 pm Pacific) until it isn't.
