I went to dinner a couple of weeks ago with an old high school friend - one I hadn’t seen in decades - and we started talking about our upcoming 30th reunion. That led to my reaching out the next day to a couple of mutual friends to find out if they, too, were planning to attend.
Before I knew it, I was the one composing group emails to about 8 different former high school chums, and trying to come up with a plan. Should we stay in a nearby motel, like we did for our 20th reunion? No, dude, let’s do AirBnB — it’s cheaper and nicer! Okay then, let’s all look around on the internet and see what we can find…
CUT TO: One week later, and one of us got an email from a much larger group in our class, which was dutifully forwarded to me. I told the leader of that group that our tiny faction was already considering various accommodations, but nothing was set in stone, and to please add us to her group emails.
”I basically surrendered,” I told my friend. “Daphne’s group is like, five times bigger!”
”Don’t worry,” my friend replied, “You’re still the reunion Jizzmaster General.”
Heh — our original group has now reserved a house right on the water that sleeps 14, and...it has a pool table! Better yet, we can afford it even if only 8 of us confirm.
What about you?
