There are many people here who look with...disfavor..at Maggie Haberman and the NYT and their coverage during the Presidential campaign. Now, here’s your chance to do something about it.
Jay McKenzie via Citizen Journalist and Medium has a devastating story entitled “Maggie Duranty: Is the New York Times repeating its history of enabling apologists for corrupt regimes?”.
The “Duranty” refers to Walter Duranty. In the 1930’s over three million people were starved to death in the Holodomer, a famine inflicted on the Ukraine by Joseph Stalin. Walter Duranty was the NYT Moscow Bureau Chief who had unprecedented access to Joseph Stalin. And, you guessed it, he used that access to deny the famine and other atrocities meted out by Stalin. Basically he was doing PR work under the guise of being an investigative journalist.
McKenzie claims the same thing is happening with Maggie Haberman and the NYT today with regards to our Dear Leader. They do a deep dive using mainly the NYT archives to document the many antiHillary articles and basically zero anti Trump articles written by Maggie Haberman. This despite the documentation (which ironically they mostly found in the Times’ archives again) of Trumps ties to organized crime, histories of bankruptcy and cheating, ties to Russia etc.
Apparently Maggie’s mother Nancy has worked for a PR firm run by Howard Rosenstein which had been a PR firm for the Trumps going back even to Dear Leader’s grandfather, and the Kushners. Thus begins their serpentine tale of the close family and money ties between the Rosensteins, the Habermans and…. (you guessed it) the Trumps and the Kushners. You have to read it to believe it so I won’t outline it further here.

So what it boils down to is they believe the slanted journalism coming out of Maggie Haberman and the NYT is due to these close ties and that Maggie Haberman is basically writing articles full of whataboutism as a PR person while posing as an investigative journalist. It is a scathing article and well worth a read.
But the main reason I’m putting this up is that they end with a call to action that I think some of you may be interested in.
We like ending with a request for action. We like having as many citizen diggers as possible involved in the stories we break. That’s part of shoring up the Fourth Estate. We want every one of you involved in getting to the facts.
This is the request: Dig on all of Maggie Haberman’s articles and tie them to the other news that was breaking at the time.
We’re looking for an intentional pattern to obscure real news in favor of spinning Donald Trump garbage into gold. We’re looking for obfuscation.
Think of the example we gave with Duranty and the famine. When the news broke on other outlets, Duranty began his spin — the whataboutism, which helped obscure an atrocity.
And as for you, @NYTimes? You have a chance now to right this ship.
You can return The Gray Lady to her rightful place as a paper of record and beacon of journalistic objectivity.
Gut your house. Clean it. Get rid of the apologist sycophants. Elevate the investigative journalists who have earned their positions. There are many great journalists out there who would jump at the chance to work for you. Find them. Vet them. Let them flourish.
To report accurately on our nation’s current situation, you must understand what got us here. Dig in your archives to find the truth about Trump’s Mafia ties. We already did — and we found a lot.
Have your investigative journalists who have integrity dig deeper into Trump’s corrupt history. Publish their stories on your front page.
Show some goddamn spine.
Because we may be little now, but we’re not stopping here.
We will continue to multiply via social media.
We will continue bringing daylight to your star apologist and any of her cohorts.
And we’re digging in to that relationship you have with Rubenstein PR, plus a whole lot more on the Haberman apologists (next page for the teaser).
We the people aren’t going away.
Buckle up.
