The NY Times has a story about Kushner meeting multiple times with the CEO of Citigroup and a co-founder of Apollo, in his capacity as a White House advisor. The Times doesn’t clarify which of his numerous mandates Kushner was fulfilling, were these meetings to bring about Middle-East peace? Or did they have to do with combatting the opiod epidemic? Or was he meeting with these fine gentlemen in his capacity as the WH’s point person for diplomacy with China? Perhaps they were overhauling the criminal justice system (Jared’s going to fix it any day now!).
What we do know is that after these meetings, both Citigroup and Apollo made loans to Kushner’s companies. To the tune of over $500 million. Yes, you can whistle.
The job never materialized, but in November, Apollo lent $184 million to Mr. Kushner’s family real estate firm, Kushner Companies. The loan was to refinance the mortgage on a Chicago skyscraper.
Even by the standards of Apollo, one of the world’s largest private equity firms, the previously unreported transaction with the Kushners was a big deal: It was triple the size of the average property loan made by Apollo’s real estate lending arm, securities filings show. — www.nytimes.com/...
The level of corruption in this administration that we’ve learned of in just the past 24 hours is mind-boggling.
Coming on the heels of revelations that Kushner’s security clearance has been downgraded, and that foreign governments had sought to exploit his many weaknesses, it’s driven Jared to suspect his White House colleagues’ motives:
Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner is reportedly suspicious that other administration members are “out to get him.”
Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has been “paranoid” in recent days, sources close to Kushner told CNN, amid growing scrutiny about his security clearance and reports that foreign officials have discussed how to manipulate him. — thehill.com/...
So the thieves are fighting among themselves. Perhaps there’s hope that the country they’re holding hostage can wiggle out while they tear themselves apart.
