The Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, America’s only national LGBTQ political organization dedicated solely to gun violence prevention, released a video today highlighting America’s frustration with the NRA and their hold on the public policy debate over firearm safety.
“As a metaphor and as a reality, ‘The NRA Doesn’t Care About Jack’ is a bluntly truthful statement about their quest to dismantle our nation’s gun safety laws and stand in complete opposition to any new reforms, despite public opinion and the tragic human cost,” said Jason Lindsay, founder and executive director of Pride Fund.
Through an emotional review of our recent history of mass shootings, and with the perspective of a toddler named Jack, Pride Fund’s PSA demonstrates the frustration, sense of hopelessness, and powerlessness Americans feel as we continue to watch our fellow citizens gunned down. The PSA builds to a crescendo of determination to take positive action to save Jack, and save ourselves from the NRA and their dangerous agenda. The call to action is for everyone to stand up to gun violence by getting involved at www.pridefund.org.
You can watch the powerful video below. In 2018, we must ensure we elect leaders who will stand up for the safety of our communities instead of the NRA.
Video Script:
This is America.
This is Jack.
By the time he can walk alone,
Hundreds more will die by gunfire.
The gun lobby believes that money is more important than American life.
They don’t care about Jack or his friends.
We believe Jack should run, dance and love
In an America that protects him from gun violence.
As a country, we have been through this too many times and we have to decide if that's the kind of country we want to be. (Barack Obama)
Why can't we do something about this? (Joe Biden)
We can.
