The greatest fool in law is always the person who chooses to represent themselves. Kris Kobach, standing in federal court in Kansas City today, managed to make several interesting errors — from trying to sandbag the ACLU with a 10:45PM at night disclosure of information, to misunderstanding how to interview witnesses, resulting in advice from a judge… but very few items stood out like this question to a witness:
The result of this question could lead to some very interesting discussions in the state house and at our local news papers tomorrow.
The question, however, also raised some eyebrows from some who had worked with Kobach — or talked to those who had.
It does turn out that Kobach may have been confused — even about who had tweeted at him, misinterpreting a re-tweet for the original provider.
With Kobach stuck on a discussion of whether he was — or wasn’t — called a “Shit Sandwich” he did take at least a few minutes to address why there were Kansans who didn’t complete the voter registration app. It seems, he believes, they all just moved out of state.
So the question is: if Kobach is right, and these would be Kansans just gave up and left, what was it that made them flee? Was it the awesome Republican low-tax plan? Or the Secretary of State who is upset about being called a shit sandwich?
We may never know.
