Sen. Ted Cruz is facing a stiffer re-election challenge than a Republican in Texas usually expects, and it sounds like it’s making him a little nervous. Like, stupid cheap shot that leaves you wide open for blowback nervous:
As Tuesday's primaries were closing, Cruz's campaign released a 60-second radio ad that was a country music jingle prodding O'Rourke for going by "Beto" rather than "Robert."
"Liberal Robert wanted to fit in, so he changed his name to Beto and hid it with a grin," the song says.
Rep. Beto O’Rourke has been called Beto since childhood and has the baby picture of himself in a “Beto” sweater to prove it.
And Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz doesn’t have a whole lot of standing on this one.
