Pennsylvania has been a “red leaning” state for some years, which is odd because
there are at least 1 million more registered Democrats than there are Republicans.
It seems the Republicans used their majority in our legislature to “re-district” —
Gerrymander — all state voting districts, and the Democrats just recently overpowered that.
The Governor, Tom Wolf, good guy mostly, ordered the GOP to fix the Gerrymandered districts within a week. They did, but their “fix” was no improvement.
Governor Wolf then sent the issue to the State Supreme Court, who DID fix the districts, so representation in PA is actually FAIR, for the first time in decades.
State Republicans, who had begun to understand they might not be able to win
in fair elections, threatened to impeach the judges who voted “against” them...but
by then the Governor had approved the new districts…
NOW…
There is an election in a formerly heavily red district whose “liberal” star is
Connor Lamb...whose chances look better every day.
So much so that Republicans spent over $9 million on this contest.
But it still seems Lamb has s good chance to win.
This means good things not only for my state, but as another impetus to the
Blue Wave...and a poke in the eye to the GOP, nationwide.
Keep watching this election, and PA politics this year and next year.
This is ging to be fun.
