You’re probably wondering—why in the world would Ted Cruz see fit to trash Beto O’Rourke for calling himself “Beto”? Well, just look at the 2012 money race for an answer.
Cruz’ Democratic opponent, Paul Sadler, raised a grand total of $705,000 for the entire cycle. In contrast, O’Rourke has already raised $8.7 million, and outraised Cruz in the last quarter of 2017 and the first two months of 2018. Democrats don’t normally raise this kind of money for statewide races in Texas.
Granted, Cruz has a little more than $1.1 million more on hand than O’Rourke. But you have to think that when Rafael Edward saw those figures, he must have gotten desperate. How else do you explain a radio ad that would do Trump proud?
We must be doing something right. But O’Rourke’s going to need a ton of help. I just clocked a donation to him. You should do the same, so send him some love here.
