Florida State Representative Elizabeth Porter chastised her Floridian colleagues as they debated gun reform legislation. She took issue with their support of the outspoken teen survivors-turned-activists of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. The students are relentlessly demanding gun law reforms after their former classmate killed 17 of their peers and teachers, injuring many more. So, how did Porter voice her objection to gun law reform? By dismissing the teen survivors, saying:
We’ve been told that we need to listen to the children and do what the children ask. Are there any children on this floor? Are there any children making laws? Do we allow the children to tell us that we should pass a law that says ’no homework’? Or you finish high school at the age of 12 just because they want it so? No. The adults make the laws because we have the age, we have the wisdom, and we have the experience.

Needless to say, the teen survivors were not happy with her speech and based on the responses to this tweet, they are already mobilizing against Porter for the future.
Thoughts and prayers on your political career, Rep. Porter.
