If one Special Counsel is getting … warm, Warmer, HOT!
Then another Special Counsel should be able to steal some of that Headline thunder ...
Gowdy: Second Special Counsel "Unavoidable" Given Known Facts
[...]
REP. TREY GOWDY (R-SC): [...] I want to know everything that happened in 2016 and whether Andy McCabe was leaking for or against Hillary Clinton. I think it's important for all of us to know. [...]
GOWDY: I do. I expect the Inspector General [Michael Horowitz] to issue a fact-centric fair report. Look at what he's already found. He found the Strzok and Page texts. Nobody else found that so I think he is uniquely well suited to el [sic] us all what happened in 2016. We already know that the FBI and the Department of Justice handled this case differently. We already know that Jim Comey had an unprecedented press conference where he usurp the decision away from the Department of Justice. I've never seen that before but we also know he sent two letters to Congress in the fall of 2016, both of which were unusual. So I think Michael Horowitz is uniquely well suited to put all of the public's fears at ease with a thorough fact-centric investigation.
BARTIROMO: Should the Attorney General be looking at this, Jeff Sessions? You know, the president tweeted out last week that he thinks it's disgraceful that Jeff Sessions is leaving it all to Michael Horowitz and the I.G. to look into these matters.
GOWDY: I'm smiling only because, you know, Jeff Sessions picked President Trump when he was a candidate out of 16 other candidates including some colleagues and even President Trump picked Jeff Sessions out of the entire universe of lawyers in the country, he picked him to be his Attorney — his Attorney General. So I really wish they would communicate more privately as opposed to via Twitter. [...]
Mr. Gowdy, the Attorney General is supposed to be the People’s Attorney — not the President’s.
The Attorney General is supposed to be “independent” of the White House … and even independent of the House and all those “special” theories, that your pal Devin Nunes has been quietly circulating ...

But while the [House] investigation into Russian election interference is coming to an end, the investigation into the people who are still investigating it is just getting started. Devin Nunes, who recused himself from overseeing the Russia investigation after being caught sneaking to the White House to coordinate with the administration, has been running a counter-investigation trying to discredit the Department of Justice and the FBI. Nunes and his staff have leaked a continuous stream of pseudo scandals to right-wing news outlets, all of which have claimed to expose nefarious conduct by the Deep State against Trump, and then disintegrated upon inspection. Nunes is now touting a new “explosive” revelation:
The story, reported by right-wing message receptacle John Solomon, reveals that the Australian foreign minister Alexander Downer, who was told by Trump staffer George Papadopoulos that the Trump campaign had illicit dirt Hillary Clinton, once facilitated a donation to fight AIDS through the Clinton Foundation. Downer is a member of Australia’s conservative party, and exactly what his involvement in a charitable donation has to do with any of this is hard to say. Republicans are dutifully expressing suspicions that it means something. “The Clintons’ tentacles go everywhere,” states Representative Mark Meadows, in lieu of any coherent theory.
Meanwhile, Republican members Bob Goodlatte and Trey Gowdy are calling for the appointment of a special counsel to pursue various debunked Republican theories that the FBI has done something wrong in its investigation of Trump. “We think this is a very serious matter regarding conduct by the FBI and by some in the Department of Justice that calls for the appointment of a special counsel who will have subpoena and prosecutorial powers,” exclaims Goodlatte. The House Republicans are winding down their pretend efforts to find out what Russia did in 2016 and who helped them, and ramping up their efforts to smear law enforcement.
Well at least Fox News, a subsidiary of the White House Press Office, will not be at a lost for “fake Headlines” to run — if Gowdy can drum up a Second Special Counsel, quote to investigate “the people who are still investigating” the Russian election interference.
The Trump water-carriers — have their orders. Afterall Devin Nunes had {and still has} an insider-seat, and likely helped participate in the Trump Team’s corruption. Not that his House Investigation will ever disclose any of it, in their soon to be issued ‘Trump-did-Nothing’ Report.
