One of the best political satirists in the land scores another homer. Andy Borowitz of The Borowitz Report continues to jump and play in the Trump arena taking jabs wherever and whenever he can. In his current piece, Borowitz highlights how well Trump can lie to the media, to the entire country and to the entire world—without even flinching.
Drumming up a scenerio, Borowitz chooses a situation where Trump is blaming the media for exaggerating his relationship with Jared Kushner who is son-in-law and White House senior advisors. Kushner is in deep and he is a target of FBI’s Robert Mueller in conjunction with the Trump-Russian collusion investigation, as well as other deeds of a nefarious nature.
Here is an excerpt from Borowitz’s piece.
“He’s someone I would see around the office and who, I guess, was working for me,” Trump told reporters on the last leg of his foreign trip. “Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you much about him.
I can’t place exactly whom I’ve heard Trump refer to like this, but it seems there have been several over the last two years when the subject is someone who is under legal scrutiny. Trump lies in effort to distance and protect himself from possible guilt/incrimination—by affiliation. Here’s another Borowitz excerpt.
Trump refused to answer further questions about Kushner’s possible legal difficulties, saying only, “I wish Garrett well.”
Read more excerpts here—it’s short and it’s sweet.
The thing is, if Trump were to really say this when asked about his own son-in-law, would anyone be surprised? I’m betting no.
Cheers to Borowitz for brightening yet another day.
