Florida State Rep. Elizabeth Porter is representative for the 10th district, which is heavily Republican and sits mid-way between Tallahassee and Jacksonville. And she has some thoughts on children getting involved in politics after seeing their classmates murdered at school with assault weapons.
We’ve been told that we need to listen to the children, and do what the children ask. Are there any children on this floor? Are there any children making laws? Do we allow the children to tell us that we should pass a law that says no homework, or you finish high school at the age of 12 because they want it so? No, the adults make the laws because we has the age, we has the wisdom and we have the experience.
Yes, she really said “we has the wisdom”. The comebacks were swift and unforgiving:
She isn’t the only GOP Rep to try to hit the Parkland kids, there’s also Georgia Rep. Steven Smith
The best retort to that is this:
But the pro-massacre Republican contingent is losing because America has begun to change. Moms and kids are changing it, and all of us can help on March 24 by marching with them:
