Trump said he’d talk to Kim, then Sarah Sanders said no, conditions must be met first, then the White House said no, Trump would be talking to Kim after all.
The White House on Friday sent confusing messages about the prospects for a historic meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, raising questions about a summit announced less than 24 hours earlier.
White House officials insisted that nothing had changed since Trump said he had accepted an invitation from Kim. But White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared to lay out new conditions, demanding “concrete, verifiable” actions from Pyongyang.
Who knows what will happen? Where would they even meet? Here are six possible locales:
- Mar-a-Lago where $200,000/year VIP members could eavesdrop and take photos as Trump and Kim huddle over a Trump/Romney-like three-star dinner of chocolate cake, thick steaks, and candlelight.
- Large animal cages on Cocos Island off the western coast of Costa Rica. Both leaders would be sling lowered by separate helicopters into adjoining Jursassic-Park-like cages. A sliding door connecting the two cages would be raised when it is time to start the meeting.
- Main event at the Chris Cillizza Sumo Summit World Championship in Tokyo, Japan. The undercard features a catwalk fashion bout between Kim’s sister and Ivanka.
- The very coincidental Erik Prince Back Channel Bar in the Seychelles.
- Bill Maher’s Orange Crush Orangutan Banana Bar and Grill in Borneo.
- The Constant Binoculars Cafe, a small but well fortified eatery just outside the DMZ on North Korea’s side. It serves fusion dishes of rice/maize, kimchi and bean paste—all grown in local night soil.
