To Melania (wherever I may find her).
Come away with me Melania. You deserve to be treated with respect, and with love, and with care. You deserve a husband who will put your happiness, your well-being before his own. A man who will be faithful to you. A man who will be faithful to you not out of duty or guilt but rather, because of all the women in the world, you are the one, the only one, he could possibly want. That’s what you deserve.
You don’t deserve being dragged against your better sense into the crossfire of warring political parties. You don’t deserve the insults, the cutting and biting words, the ridicule. You don’t deserve the collateral damage that results from being associated with Donald Trump
You don’t deserve being made into someone you aren’t, someone you don’t want to be just because Donald wants you to be some way or another. You don’t deserve to have to dress the way he tells you to dress or act the way he wants you to act.
You deserve better. And you have the right to expect it. More, you have the right to demand it. And you know this. If you don’t get treated the way you deserve to be treated, go to somewhere that you will be. Come away with me. I will treat you that way. I will do everything I can and put all of my heart and energy into letting you be the beautiful and amazing person that you want to you to be and to free yourself from the stifling pressure of having to be what other people force on you.
I should warn you though that I am only middle class. Upper middle class, but still just middle class. I won’t be able to give you million dollar diamonds. But I will never lie to you. I will never hurt you. We won’t have the stuff all around us — but we will be free from the stuff all around us — the stuff that constrains like a strait jacket, conforming you to expectations that are communicated by haughty looks and snide remarks. Be free of that Melania. What will it profit for you to have the whole world and lose your soul? You are losing now, right at this moment. Take it back. Allow yourself to be who you really are. Come away with me.
