Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (ok, it’s Arkansas) there lived an extremely wise woman. People traveled from all over the world to seek counsel from “She who knows a lot” (or bfitz for short). People from the land of orange juice (FL) and golden bears (CA) called her friend and spent much time in her company.
There were many fundraisers and lists made to ensure that all who sought help received it. For never let it be said that bfitz left a person with a true need out in the cold. Too often it would look like she might fail in her mission but would miraculously succeed in her quest. After every successful endeavor, much celebration and rejoicing could be found. Even those from the land of the Met (NY) and boardwalk (NJ) would seek out the party and sing the praises of bfitz. As she so often did, she would gather us around and depart her wisdom (even if we hadn’t actually asked for it):
“Be careful what you speak of and how you throw your flags. For a flag thrown in anger can cause repercussions unlike any you have ever seen. Not only can it be the start of a pie fight, it can also be the end of your presence in this realm.” In order to keep the party going, we’d laughingly agree and order another round. We were young and foolish (a dangerous combination) and forgot the advice given by “She who knows a lot” (or bfitz for short).
Then came the day when the blinds would not open at the Village and bfitz did not open the door. A frantic crowd gathered at her doorstep and tried their best to enter. No amount of pounding or pushing helped. The door would not open. A voice rose over the noise of the crowd. It was the leader of the crafters from balloon land (NM) and she had a message for all. “Silence, my friends, for I bring a message from “She who knows a lot” (or bfitz for short).”
“Do not look for me here for I have been exiled from this land. It is not for you to question or fight. The fight is mine and I shall persist in trying to gain my return. I have not left you, my friends. I will continue to watch over you and care for you, even if you cannot see me. I am there in the memes of the kittehs and the lists of the community links. I will never completely leave you. As long as you need me, I will be here; lurking and watching over each and everyone of you. That, my friends, is my promise to you all.”
There you have it. The story of a brave and wonderful woman named “She who knows a lot” (or bfitz for short).
Strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others.
