Cash the Overlord has been thru a lot with me, thick and thin. He is 16 years old now and has been with me for 14 of those years. He lost his brother, Tango, which was very tough on both of us. Eventually we adopted Cloud who became his new found partner in adventures
While Cloud is outgoing and noisy Cash is the exact opposite, Come into my apartment? Cloud will come out and greet you,,,not Cash. When I am home alone I have Cash attached to me, he never leaves my side. As I am typing this he is laying down on my right side, If I shift even an inch he shifts with me,
As of the last few months Cash has been sick. He went to the vet two days ago and was given a new blood test. Turns out he is not absorbing nutrients from the food he eats. Just like me they think it is likely he has IBS. Although that is the strongest possibility he could also have a tumor. So I have two options. I could put him under again and do a biopsy and get the “definitive” answer or I could do weekly bouts of two medicines. One is given as a gel that is rubbed on his ear that helps in the absorption of nutrients and the other is a weekly injection of a vitamin B-6 for 6 weeks. The “good” news is that the treatment is something they would try in either case (tumor or IBS) so starting next week he gets his medicines.
The good news is that he seems, other than being less playful to be doing fine… he does not seem to be in pain at all. He eats everything offered (Shoot and not offered to him). When we do give treats he runs over and knocks Cloud out of the way (The same thing comes when the food bowl is filled) we know Cash is still boss.
I am hoping for the best as Cash is like a member of the family, my own son as I never had a hooman son, and been with me thru thick and thin.
