So we’re laughing with the new receptionist and my coworker and telling stories — now normally I don’t tell stories about my old military days because these Trumpies find them boring and embarrassing, since none of THEM ever served in the military.
But this time I just couldn’t resist. They were talking about various bars they had been to, and played pool and darts in, and it just led right into this story. Where I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, and went with some of my friends into the English Pub in downtown Frankfurt on the 4th of July, and we politely asked the bartender if they would welcome some of us Yanks in here on this day. He laughed, said “of course, my darlings! as long as you all Yanks behave yourselves!” We laughed, stayed there and had a marvelous time. And, I might add, a backup guy for the Rolling Stones, dropped in there and played the piano for several hours.
It was wonderful. When I was done telling this story, which most people liked, my Trumpie coworker looked at me with such a look of — what? hatred? frustration? America-first whatever?
She looked at me very coldly and said — “well, I think we should all just now get back to work”. This in spite of the fact that two minutes earlier, she had been regaling them with stories of her vintage pool cue.
This is why I fear we won’t have enough of a Blue Wave. I really hope we do, I really do.
But there are too many people like that out there. People who can’t even listen to a little story about the old days without getting pissed off. The look she gave me…...well.
VOTE. That’s all i’m saying.
