CNN is reporting that Travis Reinking, the suspected domestic terrorist who shot and killed four people at a Nashville Waffle House on Sunday, has been apprehended. Reinking’s rampage was stopped by an unarmed James Shaw Jr. who wrestled Reinking’s weapon from him. The Washington Post has more:
The announcement Monday afternoon came nearly 34 hours after the mass shooting, which unnerved the Tennessee capital and prompted a sprawling manhunt. A little more than an hour before police said they had apprehended Reinking, authorities had acknowledged having “no confirmed sightings” of him and saying they were not even sure if he remained in the area.
Police did not immediately say how Reinking was located, saying initially that he was apprehended in a wooded area a little more than a mile from the Waffle House. The Nashville police posted a photo of Reinking online that showed his shirt visibly torn with his arms behind his back.
News continues to leak out that Reinking had a run-in with law enforcement, and his weapons previously taken away from him when he tried to visit Donald Trump at the White House in July.
