My friend, Baba Baxter Jones, needs a motorized wheelchair to participate in the Poor People's Campaign (PPC) as an impacted delegate. He plans to travel to Washington, DC, for national actions of the Poor People's Campaign on May 13 and 14, 2018. (GoFundMe). His supporters found a gently used motorized wheelchair for $3,000 which costs $30,000 new!
Please support our fundraising campaign for Baba Baxter Jones. He is a well-known water warrior who was arrested for protesting for water rights in Detroit and injured by police in transit. He is suing the Detroit Police Department in federal court because the DPD injured and traumatized him.
Reverend Doctor William Barber has asked Baba to participate in the Poor Peoples Campaign in Washington, DC, later this month.
From Baba’s GoFundMe Page
Baba is hoping to lend his special insight during the PPC, a national call for a moral revival, to overcome systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation and the war economy. The PPC is re-igniting Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last major campaign before his assassination.
Imagine what a game changer having a power wheelchair would be for Baba and his caregivers during this weekend and beyond. We found an amazing gently used chair for a great price.
If all of Baba's Advocates and Supporters pitch in, this will be a DEAL CHANGER for the Disability Justice movement. Any surplus funds will go towards Baba's other needs for reasonable accommodations and to benefit the Michigan PPC.
