Yesterday, while the Trump Administration was celebrating the move of the U.S Embassy to Jerusalem, Palestinians were being killed and wounded in large numbers. The Trump Administration was blaming Hamas, but there are some facts that people need to be aware of to really understand the big problem with the Palestinian Situation:
1. The Palestinians have 70% unemployment. I want you to let that sink in for a moment. The Great Depression in the United States, at its worst, had about 25% unemployment. This is about three times as bad.
2. The average wage of those Palestinians that are working, is about 32 U.S. dollars a day. That is about 4 dollars an hour. And that is the AVERAGE. That means that if one person is making 5 dollars an hour, another person is making only 3 dollars an hour.
3. Two-thirds of the Palestinian Gaza population is under twenty five. Why is the population so skewed? The answer is, in poverty stricken areas, older people who would have survived if they had more money and better medical care, do not survive as well. In Gaza, the percentage of people 65 years and over: 2.54%. US age demographics: People under 21 years of age made up over a quarter of the U.S. population (27.1%), and people age 65 and over made up one-seventh (14.5%). The national median age was 37.8 years in 2015
4. The Gaza strip, an area about twice the size of Washington D.C., has been estimated as having between 1.5 and 2 million people. It is the most densely populated area in the world. The people who live there say it is like a prison, as they cannot leave without permission, and that permission is rarely granted.
If you wanted to create a powder keg place to live, this is how you would make it. The problem is not Hamas. Hamas is just a symptom of the horrible living conditions. The problem is a living situation that is so terrible that people have no fear of dying, in fact, many think it is preferable. This is why there used to be so many Palestinian suicide bombers. They were not afraid of dying.
You want to solve the Palestinian problem? Two things would change their world:
1. For the love of God, give them a little more space to live in.
2. Give them some industry. They are working for peanuts. They would work cheap and be dedicated as hell. Create some factories a few miles outside of Gaza. Have good security at the factories. Bring the workers there on buses. Tell them a condition of working is searches like at the airport, just to make sure the factories will always be there.
3. When things get better in Gaza because people have jobs and money, start allowing a few to leave Gaza.
This is not that freaking hard. For many years, the U.S. Government and its citizens treated Native Americans like crap, but at least, EVENTUALLY, the U.S Government gave them a decent amount of land to live on, let them form their own governments, and let them create their own industries, like casino gaming. Yes, the U.S. Government could do a lot more to help Native Americans, and it should. I am just using it as an example because when the U.S. Government stopped pushing the Native Americans around, stopped killing them, and allowed them to live in peace, that is just what they did. The Palestinian situation is not that different. They just want a decent living so they can take care of their families. Is that too much to ask?
