Abdul had a terrific week!
“The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, regarding the recent ruling from Judge Christopher Murray that consents to Dr. Abdul El-Sayed’s motion to dismiss challenges to his eligibility to run for governor:
‘Following the recent ruling from Judge Murray as well as the ruling by the Bureau of Elections, we consider this matter settled and Abdul to be eligible. We look forward to remaining focused on how all of our great candidates have a better vision for the future of our state and staying concentrated on winning in November.’ ”
Case closed.
And Then There Were Three (on the Ballot)
One of the four declared candidates for Governor of Michigan failed to gather enough verifiable valid signatures, so he is now running a write-in campaign. This leaves 3 candidates: Gretchen Whitmer, Shi Thanedar, and Abdul El-Sayed.
Abdul is the most progressive candidate
I prefer Abdul El-Sayed to Gretchen Whitmer because Abdul totally rejects corporate funding for his campaign. Whitmer accepts corporate funds, including Big Pharma. Blue Cross execs support Gretchen Whitmer. Corporations expect something in return for financial support, of course.
The Rich Guy
The third candidate is basically self-funding, Shri Thanedar. We’ve just had 8 years of a governor (Snyder) who self-funded his campaign — he donated $6M of $8M for his own campaign. I hope the people of Michigan have learned that lesson.
Eclectablog savaged Shri in this article: Why would I NEVER support Shri Thanedar to be the governor of Michigan? How much time do you have?
“Steve Neavling is an award-winning investigative reporter living in Detroit. As the editor and co-founder of Motor City Muckraker since May 2012, Neavling has exposed city hall corruption, police misconduct, racial discrimination and inadequate emergency services. His work has led to federal investigations, police suspensions, forced resignations and new leadership at the beleaguered Fire Department.”
Steve questions Shri like a good journalist. Wow!:
It’s About Time!
I received an invitation to canvass with Abdul’s campaign tomorrow at noon. A reporter from Time Magazine will be there.
