It is the beginning of what looks to be a looooong week here at Casa Brillig. Mr. Brillig has to travel Tuesday-Friday, it’s K2’s last week of school (complete with ridiculous end of year history project AND a field trip), and we’re all feeling exhausted.
So what do I get in my email tonight? A note from the father of one of K2’s soccer carpool buddies detailing exactly how my son and another friend are bullying his son. Given my son left another team due to bullying, this is upsetting to say the least. It’s being handled, but I’m in a bit of a funk. So please grab a tasty beverage, and come cheer me up below the Story Break after a word from our sponsor...
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
I am consciously remembering all of the good things that happened the past few days:
- I chaperoned our congregation’s senior high youth group overnight on Saturday, and it was fantastic. Ten wonderful teens, two of whom were marking their last event with the group as they bridged from youth to young adulthood the next day at church. It’s always fun to see teens so desperately trying to be grownup in other arenas feel safe enough to act like kids in this safe, supportive environment.
- I cooked a ton of tasty healthy-for-me keto food, including LOW CARB GRAHAM CRACKERS!!!!! Cooking always makes me happy.
- I went to an event the state Senate candidate whose campaign I’m helping out with and that was fun!
- I had pretty coffee and catch up with one of my best friends this morning, followed by a great chat with my minister about a variety pack of church stuff. If you’d told me a few years ago I’d have enough confidence in a clergy member to do that, I’d have stared at you. But this guy is worthy of that trust. And I’m grateful for that.
So… what’s good in YOUR world tonite? Besides the trio of Top Comments, Mojo and Pictures that BeninSC brings to the party tonight, of course!
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

From Eyesbright:
I enjoyed this comment from Ed Tracey and wouldn't have known this stuff if it weren't for him!
From BeninSC:
Sometimes, over time, it seems some forget how bad Reagan was. This comment by ljc2006 offers, I think, a much more accurate perspective.
Highlighted by eeff:
Is this comment by WestCoastFranky on how our country has fallen in scientific circles, with our neglect of scientific infrastructure, investment and education.
Highlighted by METAL TREK:
Is this comment by piglit likening Trump activities to World Wrestling Federation activities. METAL TREK’s reply is also good.
Highlighted by KM Wehrstein:
Is this comment by KYrocky about Trump’s nearly infinite lack of qualification, also, rightfully, taking the media to task for its failures in this fight. KM Wehrstein’s reply emphasizes his lack of empathy, and its role in his incompetence.
In a sequence of dueling highlights ...:
TRPChicago’s comment on campaign opportunities from Laura Clawson’s excellent FP diary on Republican double standards was highlighted by jillsinmo, whose comment was highlighted in turn by TRPChicago!
Highlighted by Black Knight:
Is this excellent and optimistic comment by G2geek, about the miserable voter suppression collusion decision by the Supreme Court.
Highlighted by hulihuligirl:
Is this comment by necturus with some interesting thoughts about some of the risks we face in this summit, due to a thoroughly unqualified negotiator. You know the one.
Highlighted by bigbadbasstbone:
Is this picture comment by dmhlt 66, about a movie called DumbFellas, starring Trump, Giuliani and Cohen.
Highlighted by wishingwell:
Is this comment by ontheleftcoast, decrying the right’s unconscionable double standard when it comes to presidents.
