Amnesty International has just given us the exact one-word description that we need to use over, and over, and over again when describing the horrific practice of forcibly taking immigrants’ children away from their parents: Torture.
This is a spectacularly cruel policy, where frightened children are being ripped from their parent’s arms and taken to overflowing detention centres, which are effectively cages. This is nothing short of torture.
Torture. It is a very specific, and very dark word that implies not just the barbarism of this practice but its violation of international law. Which I believe it is.
This deplorable president is allowing the literal torture of children.
Every time we engage with people who are callous enough to still defend what tRump does, we should point-blank ask them why they are defending torture. If they defend torture, then that is on them.
Torture. It needs to end. Now.
