The end of winter not only brings the end of cold weather, but also the warmth of camaraderie, family and a sense of pride to the many Native Americans who travel the pow wow circuit each year.
The Tutxinmepu Pow Wow at the University of Idaho in Moscow is one of the first each year, taking place within the school’s Kibbie Dome where weather is not a factor.
I have no expertise with the meaning of the participants’ regalia or the dances shown in these photos, (I’m of Indian descent, but think Bollywood, not Hollywood) so I won’t comment as to what is going on so as not to take a chance of being wrong and offending anyone.
