I was a Red Cross volunteer when Katrina arrived. When the masses began arriving at the Astro Dome in Houston (eventually 35,000), we already had cots with pillows and blankets. Within a couple of days, we had a supply of clean clothes of all sizes to fit the multi-sex and size of souls arriving with only the clothes on their back.
No one slept on the floor under a mylar sheet.
Why won’t the government let the Red Cross in?
