But, first: Da Rulz:
Would you know my name our names
If we saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If we saw you in heaven?
We must be strong and carry on
'Cause we know we know I don't belong in we’re not ready for heaven
Would you hold my hand hug us tight
If we saw you in heaven?
Would you help us stand calm our fright
If we saw you in heaven?
I’ll We'll find my our way through day and night
'Cause we know we just can't stay here in heaven (yet)
Time can bring you down, time can bend knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please, begging please
Beyond the door there's peace we’re I'm sure
And we know there'll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name our names
If we saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If we saw you in heaven?
We must be strong and carry on
'Cause we know we don't belong in we’re not ready for heaven.
’Cause we know we don't belong in we’re too young for heaven.
It is an honor & privilege to be Smokey & Tiger’s new parents. They are lovely cats. It is obvious that you raised them with love.
And we will love them till the end of their days.
You can rest easy about that.
PWB Peeps are helping.
So, they have parents & lots of aunties & uncles & friends.
Love,
Meowsker, MrCatSlave, DaPeeps,
Smokey & Tiger.
This is an open thread.
Small An update :
Smokey & Tiger are settling in amazingly well. Actually, thriving. You would never know Smokey has cancer. Both are happy & relaxed. And we fell in love with them from day one!
The vet said it’s an invasive kind & nothing can be done, but we hope it moves slowly. We will do all we can to make sure she is comfortable -No torture. Oddly animals, have an option that isn’t offered to most people (Unless you live in Oregon, California, Washington, Vermont, Montana, Colorado or DC. And certain more civilized countries than here- or if you’re rich.)
We weigh all of our cats on Sundays. By last Sunday, Smokey gained a pound. That is huge on a cat her size. They only came here on June 5! She looks better overall — Not as pathetically thin & her fur is now taking on some shine. I think time in rooming house / motel /hotel / SPCA took a lot out of them.
Oddly, tiny Smokey (roughly half the body weight of Tiger) is the boss of the pair. She eats her wet food pretty fast & then tries to steal Tiger’s. He, being the beta-cat of the pair, acquiesces to her wishes. They have individual bowls. It is funny to see two cat faces jammed into a bowl intended for one cat. But, I was told they always shared a bowl, so sometimes they share Tiger’s bowl, once Smokey has cleaned her dish- And I do mean cleaned — She licks it clean. This happens once he finishes, walks away, Meowsker or MCS have re-positioned the bowls & consolidated the remaining food away from the rim. (Tiger gets plenty to eat- He could stand to lose a few ounces!) These two have taught us a new trick — Once a cat finishes eating & walks away from the bowl, remove the bowl, re-fluff or re-arrange the leftover food, return bowl — And the cat will eat as if they were just being served. (So far, this only works on Smokey & Tiger — Our other cats don’t fall for it.)
Smokey washes Tiger. It’s very sweet to see. And she’ll even wash our hands & arms. She has a pretty strong instinct to nurture.
All cats are curious, but Smokey takes it to a new level. She has to know what’s inside every cabinet & every closet in the house. And behind every piece of furniture. She is a natural when it comes to figuring out how to open things. We have to find a few of those child-proof fasteners. Our beloved Polly (Crossed the Rainbow Bridge Oct 12 at age 18) was an investigator of cabinets, closets & trashcans- but not quite as clever as Smokey So we are very careful about where things are placed.
Tiger is not nearly as out-going. But, he’s a big lover. Once he gets over his shyness to approach, he will love us up! And he gives tons of head-butts & head-rubs. That guy is just a big lump of love! It’s been a long time since a male cat adopted us. It just worked out that way. Cats come to our front porch. When we can’t find their homes, or a good rescue, or a qualified adopter we adopt them ourselves. But we never adopt young cats. It’s unfair to deliberately adopt a kitten who, odds are, will out-live you. (I wanted kitten Jack’s people to adopt us, too! Awesome home!) It’s so nice to have a male cat again! Mr.Tazz crossed well over 20 years ago -He earned the “Tazz” name, he was a little devil! But he was a very special cat. (Literally jumped into my car window one summer night!) This was before I met MCS. Battle ensued. Tazz thought he was my husband & owned ½ of the bed. MCS wasn’t happy being nudged off the side of the bed every night. Tazz was there first! Eventually, I married MCS. Poor Tazz! But he stayed with us, made peace with MCS & got lots of love until he crossed. Tazz was my good Mogwai! My Gizmo!
Smokey & Tiger are not the most playful cats, but at 10 yrs old, most cats aren’t. We have tons of interactive cat toys. These have accumulated over the years. When we had disposable income, we spent it all on the cats & rescues — the good old days. So we have a lot of cat furniture & really good (almost indestructible) interactive cat toys- Most of our cats are / were old. Older cats are more sedentary & tend to take longer to destroy things. We don’t want them to be bored.
Smokey & Tiger are getting more relaxed & trusting everyday. They are very hard to photograph — Like all cats, they don’t pose! Tried a short film on a phone (actually hate smart phones). Phone said it was too long to send, but I have one of Nina that is longer… Like I said- Hate smart phones!
They gravitate toward MCS. I think it’s a gender thing. They know I’m not their mommy Maureen. They didn’t have a daddy before, so they accepted MCS readily. But it’s not about that. As long as they feel safe, loved, happy & know this is their home. They have everything kitties could want. (except they don’t have Maureen).
If only we could cure poverty & cancer *sigh*.
I rambled again… Just call me Ramble On Rose.
