Do we celebrate, or mourn? If nothing else, it has been proved over and over that the kids are all right.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

My next MINI Cooper is probably going to cost more than I’ve been anticipating.
Saudi women are driving at home now, but all is not going smoothly.
I hope this attempt at reintroducing the Spix macaw to the wild goes well.
New antibiotics from deep-sea sponges. There’s been some found in dirt as well.
The coldest place in Antarctica gets even colder than anybody thought.
The home of a famous ancient Greek fisherman is found. Famous enough people still knew about him.
This is not a joke. Abandoned house in road.
Bath Abbey is being cleaned. Evidence that somebody involved in a 1970s hoax in Scandinavia was there at some point has been found.
A new VTOL aircraft. This one is projected to start in 2024 and sounds like it might be feasible.
NSA deleting call records.
The BelugaXL is a plane built to transport parts for other planes. It is strangely appealing.

I’m not looking forward to the fireworks in a couple of days. The official ones are set off on the Willamette River not more than half a mile from where I live, and I have a lot of idiot neighbors.

I got my new Medicare card this past week. The notice I got about six months back said Oregon was in the second lot of states they would be sent out to and I should expect to get it sometime between June 1st and August 31st. I got it.
My doctor finally replied to my question about the results of the bone scan. I’m good.
The grandkids started their swimming lessons this past week. They seem to be enjoying them.
My granddaughter has been drawing the saga of her life. My daughter occasionally posts panels on Facebook. It appears that she is the superhero who rescues the kids from spiders — I recall having that superpower, and also against cockroaches. And then there was the panel of my granddaughter trying to bash her brother for singing “Do Re Me” for the umpty-millionth time. I probably wouldn’t have laughed so hard if I didn’t occasionally feel an urge to do the same.

Some of you may remember me saying my next purchase for my household was going to be a stepladder with a handrail (I looked it up — May 6th). I got it yesterday.
