Much has been written about Mr. Giuliani’s appearance on ABC this morning, but I’ve yet to see anyone ask what was meant by the former mayor’s curious nonchalance regarding Michael Cohen.
"If he wants to cooperate, I think it's great," Giuliani said. "We've been through all his records. I know Michael. He has no evidence of, nor was he involved in anything untoward, with the president."
Yadda yadda blah blah WHAT?
"We've been through all his records.”
Just to pause for clarification here, Mr. Mayor, you say that the president and his personal legal team have had access to Mr. Cohen’s records. From whom did you get them?
Did Mr. Cohen’s legal team copy Mr. Giuliani (or Mr. Cobb or Mr. Dowd or...) on the thousands of documents, dozens of cell phones, etc. that the government has access to?
Or did the president’s personal legal team acquire those records through the government itself, improperly accessing evidence in an ongoing investigation?
Or is Rudy Giuliani simply verbalizing whatever sentence fragment floats through his mind?
(Call me mean-spirited if you will, but there’s ample evidence that he does that sort of thing. A lot. On TV. No, really, google that shit.)
Have Giuliani, et. al. really been poring over Michael Cohen’s records?
And, if so, where did they get them?
UPDATE: In the comments, centerline provided a link explaining that the Trump organization was givien access to the Cohen documents.
