I’ll be brief here, but I do think this is important.
When we have Republican current and former congresscritters finally speaking against Trump because of the Putin debacle in Helsinki, we need not give them reason to stop speaking up. Trump, I believe, is potentially an existential threat to the USA as we know it, and any further progress socially or economically will come at the whim of a tyrant, rather than the ballot box, if Trump remains.
So, when Newt Gingrich pipes up about Trump’s embarrassment, when commentators on Fox News turn on him, when even the worst like Tom Cotton are demanding explanations, I’m not going to tell them to fuck off, and neither should you.
Tell them:
’It’s about time.’
’History is watching.’
’Your reputation and legacy are at stake.’
Etc.
We should not tell them we’re out to end their careers regardless...of course we want to vote them all out and into obscurity, but they know that already. Don’t give them reason to go nihilist on us — don’t encourage thoughts that Trump doesn’t matter and whatever happens, won’t affect them.
Hold these late-arrivers accountable, LEAN on them...but don’t tell them to fuck off. If Berlin must fall via an invasion from both sides, so be it.
