The Columbus Dispatch is reporting today Democrats are running far ahead of Republicans in ballot requests in the 3 most populous counties in the OH-12 special election. Here are the numbers so far in the early In-person and absentee voting through Thursday July 19...
-In Delaware county, a GOP stronghold, of the total requested 1785 absentee ballots, Dems have requested 62.1%, Reps 37.9%.
-In Licking County (another GOP county) Dems have requested 57.3% of the 1650 marked ballots. Totals for both Delaware and Licking Counties “include both early and absentee votes filed by mail or in person”.
-In Dem friendly Franklin County (including a part of Columbus) 78.5% of the ballots requested are from Dems. Only mail requests are in this total.
-The CD writes ”Although it does not necessarily mean that all those who marked their ballots Democrat will vote for O’Connor, the early ballot requests indicate an extremely competitive race for what has been a solid Republican seat since 1983.”
-The Dispatch adds in comparison “Republican ballot requests were far higher for the May 8 primary for the seat, with 61.8 percent of those requesting absentee ballots in Delaware County asking for a Republican ballot and 61.1 percent of those requesting absentee ballots in Licking County asking for the GOP ballot during the primary”.
