The news that White House Doer of All the Things and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner used his ownership of the New York Observer newspaper to erase unflattering things about his friends is not at all surprising. For a certain class of wealthy entitled snots, the only reason you buy a newspaper is to erase unflattering stories about your friends while promoting the scandals of your enemies, and Jared Kushner is precisely that sort of wealthy entitled snot. He married into the Trump family, so it was a requirement for the position.
Slightly more surprising is that Jared Kushner killed unflattering stories about his friends in the most cowardly possible way. Rather than fighting it out with the paper's editors, who would have objected because of the spectacular lack of ethics involved in such a thing, he instead went to one of the paper's software developers to delete those stories from the paper's website without the editors catching on.
Cooooooooowaaaard.
"If I had known about it, Jared and I would have had a big problem," [former Observer editor Elizabeth Spiers] said. "Jared's such a coward. Went directly to Austin because he knew I wouldn't do it." Spiers said that Smith didn’t have any choice in the matter but to delete the stories since he was not an editorial employee.
The man owned the paper. If he wanted to run a crooked paper catering to his friends, he could at least have had the spine to directly order the paper's editors to be crooked, rather than going to one of the site techs to delete the articles behind their backs. But no, he acted like a high school student hacking into his school to change an English grade.
Or, since he's a rich little snot, paying someone with a shred of actual knowledge to do it for him.
All right, we'll add this to the pile. In addition to being Not Good at business, as is demonstrated by the woes he has led his family company into over recent years, and being a stone-cold weaselly little traitor, as is demonstrated by his willingness to meet with Russian agents offering illegal assistance to the Trump campaign during a sustained campaign of Russian intelligence attacks against American entities and elections systems and covering it up afterwards, he is also a spineless creep. Duly noted.
