I just got home from seeing Spike Lee’s new film, BlacKkKlansman. My mind is still reeling so I have to say, GO SEE IT.
For those who don’t know, BlacKkKlansman is the true story of Ron Stallworth, a black rookie who gets recruited as the only person of color in the Colorado Springs Police Department during the very early 1970’s when the Vietnam War is still going on. He quickly becomes a Detective and begins an undercover sting operation into the local chapter of the KKK, eventually gaining the opportunity to meet David Duke himself.
But that’s all I’m going to tell you. Because all I can say is that this is THE most important movie of our time, post-Charleston, and when we have a white supremacist sitting in the White House. The movie is a punch in the gut and a slap in the face of any American who is sitting on the fence as to whether or not this nation is in distress.
BlacKkKlansman receive standing ovations at Cannes, and is currently rated at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and after you see it, you’ll know why.
