The white supremacist march last August in Charlottesville, Virginia, caused injury to counter-protestors, and the brutal death of activist Heather Heyer, who was also protesting the neo-Nazi march. Most white nationalists got away with the violence, but some did not. One of those marchers, former Lance Corporal Vasillios Pistolis, has just been officially kicked out of the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 28 days in confinement at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The charges for his court martial include disobeying orders and making false statements in connection with Charlottesville rally. Via VoteVets.org, Neal Augenstein reports for WTOP.
A report by ProPublica and Frontline PBS highlighted his involvement with the Atomwaffen Division and Traditionalist Worker Party — two of the most militant groups in the neo-Fascist movement.
According to the report, Pistolis had bragged about his involvement in the Charlottesville violence.
“Today cracked three skulls open with virtually no damage to myself,” he wrote on Aug. 12 — the day of the violent rally and counter protest, in which Heather Heyer was killed.
“There is no place for racial hatred or extremism in the Marine Corps,” wrote Maj. Brian Block in a release published by the Jacksonville Daily News in North Carolina. “Bigotry and radical extremism run contrary to our core values.”
The military punishment hardly seems enough for a white supremacist who attempted murder, and basically aided in the death of Heather Heyer. Pistolis has yet to be arrested by Charlottesville police. To voice your thoughts with the Charlottesville Police Department, here is contact information:
