Chris Collins was the first lawmaker in either house of Congress to endorse Trump for president. But apparently that doesn’t matter to Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA. Hours after Collins suspended his bid for reelection, Kirk appeared on Fox Business and all but declared Collins a swamp creature.
“It doesn’t look good aesthetically,” Kirk said. “Looks like he was using a piece of insider information for his own advantage. And that is the very kind of swampy behavior … that we as Trump supporters really kind of reject. And so I’m not totally pleased with his behavior and I’m glad to see that he’s not running for re-election.”
I have to admit I’m surprised. After all, you would have thought that the sight of a prominent Trump supporter being indicted less than 100 days before the election would have brought cries of “witch hunt!” Hmmm, could it be because this was a Republican U. S. Attorney appointed by Trump bringing this indictment? Whenever you hear people whining about Mueller leading a witch hunt, bring this case up.
That being said, the Dem running here, Nate McMurray, is going to need a ton of help. There is no way that the GOP is going to let an R+11 seat get away unchallenged—especially one that gave Trump his biggest margin in the state. If anyone needs a money bomb right now, it’s McMurray.
