I don’t know Jack Dorsey. I don’t know the man’s heart. I can only surmise his political leanings from his actions. These include:
1. Allowing his company, Square, to process payments for:
National Vanguard, a neo-Nazi group; Barnes Review, a Holocaust denial website; and Occidental Quarterly, a racist journal.
2. Refusing to kick Nazis like Alex Jones and the Infowars staff off Twitter, claiming that they aren’t violating the rules. However...
...a CNN review of Jones' accounts show that all of the videos that initially led the other tech companies to take action against Jones were in fact posted to Twitter by Jones or InfoWars. All were still live on Twitter as of the time this article was published. CNN noted this in a request for comment from Twitter on Wednesday morning, before Harvey's email was made public. The company declined to comment at the time.
3. Holding secret meetings with far-right politicians and propagandists. Yeah, nothing suspicious about that.
Yes, he gives money to groups like the ACLU that might be considered on the left of the political spectrum (I’d say that one is merely libertarian, a term Nazis like Alex Jones are hijacking). But the guy is worth billions. A few thousand or even a couple million are pocket change to Jack and hardly count as a meaningful sacrifice.
If Jack isn’t a closet Nazi, he’s going to have to prove it by doing something rather major. Allowing Alex Jones, the various Trumps, and other evildoers to use Twitter and Square to incite disturbed individuals to violence makes Jack complicit in America’s decline into savagery. No mere tweeted explanation or apology will offset that.
