Yes, the judge himself has also received threats. He is now “traveling with a U.S. Marshall out of fear for his personal safety.”
Now, I don’t want to speculate on who could possibly be threatening this judge and jury. But if you put a gun to my head, I’d guess it was the PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE “MAN” WHO IS CALLING THIS INVESTIGATION A DISGRACE.
Wild guess.
The “President” has called the Russia/Election investigation a “witch hunt” in tweets alone, 116 times since January 10th, 2017.
He has called the investigation, and people involved in the investigation, ILLEGAL, 10 times
He has called the FBI raids on Michael Cohen an “Attack on America”
He has been directly involved (and bragged about) having three people fired, who were involved in the investigation.
And just today Trump: ‘It’s Very Sad What They’ve Done To Paul Manafort’
Perhaps this is what the lawyers and Judge had been discussing for hours, that had become a point of interest for the media.
Judge Ellis is so worried about his jurors (and future jurors) that he is refusing to unseal their names.
Matthew Kelley, the lawyer representing the news organizations, argued in a hearing on the sealed records that there should be a presumption of openness when it comes to the names of the jurors. Kelley said there had not been any specific threats against the jurors, to which Ellis shot back, “I can tell you there have.”
Ellis added that he has also received threats, and is traveling with a U.S. marshall out of fear for his personal safety.
While the judge expressed sympathy with the media organizations’ desire for records to be available to the public, Ellis said if the court releases the names of the jurors, it could preclude people from participating in future “cases with notoriety.”
I’ll go out on a limb, and say that Trump will remain silent about this.
And his silence will be deafening.
