Anecdotal evidence, but a change nonetheless.
Where i work has a huge TV in the cafeteria/break room. Since i’ve started here, it has almost always been tuned to sports or FOX noise (outside the morning Price is Right/Young and the Restless crowd). a couple years ago, they started playing CNN instead of FOX sometimes, and in the past year CNN is what is usually on, with only a couple instances i can recall of FOX being on (and i’ve seen one coworker go and change it anytime fox is on when they’re there).
So i’m returning from lunch today and i glance over and didn’t recognize the station by the graphics, and lo and behold, it was tuned to MSNBC talking about the immigrant detention issue. If my place of employment is moving away from the propaganda of fauxnoise, it logically follows others are as well, and that can only mean good things.
Lincoln is a bit more liberal than the rest of Nebraska in general (portions of Omaha and a few communes out west notwithstanding), but to me this shows a distinct shift in the prevailing attitudes in “Trump” country. combine this with the pain soybean farmers are preparing for, and i’m optimistic maybe the tribalism is fading in this bleed red state...
