I am currently on a Medicare plan, covered by Blue Care Network. Normally such a medicare plan does not cover dental work however knowing I have teeth issues I pay 19 dollars extra a month or so which is supposedly an aid to dental care. Problem is… it doesn’t cover (Pardon my language) jack shit beyond preventative care. But I have lots of additional dental issues. I have a crown which needs to be taken out by a dentist and than an oral surgeon can do a tooth extraction under it. However no oral surgeons in the area seem to take this insurance.
I’ve gone the route of dental schools, and cheap plans…. that the dentists give you. Problem is if you’re not also on Medicaid good luck getting on them. I’ve contacted them again and again and been told, nicely, that I am SOL. So it is either suffer in a heck of a lot of pain and do nothing or bite the bullet and pay out of pocket.
Anyone else with just medicare but NOT medicaid face a similar problem?
