Gosh, today is really shaping up to be a rough one for some pretty gross Republican men.
Elliott Broidy was the Finance Chairman for the Republican National Committee from 2005-2008, and Deputy Finance Chairman in 2017. His name surfaced in April 2018, when the Wall Street Journal reported that he had paid off a Playboy model named Shera Bechard—to the tune of 1.6 million dollars—in order to silence an affair he’d had with her, that resulted in Bechard becoming pregnant and ultimately having an abortion. Many speculated that Broidy was a party in name only to that agreement and it was actually Donald Trump who had the affair with Ms. Bechard, since the non-disclosure agreement that she was forced to sign had been drafted by Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, but the reality is (apparently) just as skeezy.
Bechard alleged that Broidy welched on paying her $200,000 of the 1.6 million, and brought suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Broidy’s excuse was that Bechard had broken the agreement by talking about it to Michael Avenatti, who represents Stormy Daniels in a similar ”hush money” dispute, involving her own affair with Donald Trump. Broidy fought to keep the details of the suit censored, but the AP and other news organizations prevailed upon the Court to unseal the allegations.
[Bechard] said she and Broidy referred to each other as “mommy” and “daddy” and he shared personal information about his children with her, told her he loved her and would financially support her. But in 2016 he became increasingly violent and also told her she was “fat and needed to fix it” with liposuction, the suit said.
Bechard said Broidy, who refused to wear a condom, didn’t disclose for years that he had genital herpes. She said he pushed her to drink heavily so she was more compliant and that ultimately led to her letting her guard down and becoming pregnant.
What a peach this guy sounds like.
According Bechard, Broidy then demanded that she have an abortion.
She said Broidy initially supported her keeping the baby, but later demanded she get an abortion and insisted “nobody can know.”
She said she feared Broidy because he had a gun and told her he could make people disappear, the suit said.
Apparently that fear was well-founded; Broidy had learned from the best of them. According to the suit:
"Mr. Broidy admired Mr. Trump's uncanny ability to sexually abuse women and get away with it. Mr. Broidy began to hurt Ms. Bechard physically during their sexual activities -- touching her in ways to which she did not consent."
Broidy is also currently under federal investigation for alleged influence peddling, on behalf of his connections to Donald Trump.
Broidy is being investigated by the Justice Department for allegedly coming up with a plan to try to talk the administration into sending a Chinese dissident back to his home country. Broidy is also being investigated based on allegations that he wanted $75 million from a Malaysian business official to get the Justice Department to end its probe of a development fund under the control of the Malaysian government, according to the report.
Makes you wonder what (or who) made him think he could possibly get away with something like that, doesn’t it?
“Only the best people….”
