Donald Trump is due to visit France for 11/11 to piggyback on the celebrations of the end of WWI. He was due to visit his golf course in Ireland that weekend. but it has now been called off.
US President Donald Trump's visit to the Republic of Ireland has been cancelled, Irish national broadcaster RTÉ has reported. The White House had announced the visit earlier in September.
Mr Trump was expected to visit his golf course in Doonbeg, County Clare, and Dublin on the weekend of 10-11 November. It was to be his first visit since becoming president in 2016.
RTÉ has reported that sources in both Ireland and the United States have indicated that the visit is off.
The reason for the cancellation is not yet known.
So why would Trump cancel a visit to one of his golf courses at the US taxpayers’ expense?
This is unlikely to be related to his frustration with snails but that is the weekend after the US midterm elections. Is he anticipating something now that he was unaware of earlier this month when the visit was announced?
