I love to read fiction… pretty much if it is anything other than a romance novel I will devour it. Since I have been on disability I go thru a book a week or so.
I have been blessed by getting donations of books from some very kind people. There is this one lady I met online who gets me about 10 books every three or four months to read, for example.
Because of the nature of the beast sometimes, like now, I have the second book in a series of two novels. So when i started to read “Carry the Flame” by James Jaros I thought I would be left behind, and for the first chapter or two I was. As I kept reading, however, i know enough as i need to about what happened in the first book to sit back and enjoy this one.
If you enjoy end of the world/post-apocalyptic works, this one is for you. Now I just cannot stop reading it.
From Goodreads;
Tomorrow's world is a wasteland, decimated by vengeful nature and disease . . .
And those who rule the ruins worship a cruel and terrible god.
Having survived the terror of the Alliance and the single-minded fanaticism of its hideous religion, a caravan of survivors moves quickly into the Great American Desert, the wastes of what once was America's heartland. With her daughters at her side -- recently rescued Ananda and her daring older sister, Bliss -- Jessie hopes to find sanctuary in the Arctic, now rumored to betemperate. But their enemies are powerful and relentless, and will not rest until they possess the caravan's most precious treasures: their prepubescent female children, a stolen tanker filled with fuel . . . and a pair of frightened twins, whom the Army of God calls "demon."
But the danger in pursuit pales before the horror that lies ahead when Jessie, the marauder-turned-ally Burned Fingers, and the innocents in their care face the savagery, the madness, and the monsters that dwell in the terrifying City of Shade.
So…..what are you reading now? Anything that you would suggest for others?
And please...if you have more books than you know what to do with...if that is even possible, please donate them. You will be doing a world of good for someone.
