How much are NY Democrats psyched? Would you believe three times as much?
The GOP gubernatorial race was uncontested, so no comparisons there. But for the Dems, voters came out of the woodwork. The numbers:
2014: 531,000 Democratic voted in the competitive Gubernatorial election.
2018: A record 1,487,000 Dems voted, a three-fold increase over the last two mid-terms.
This enthusiasm will translate to more Dem votes in 53 days. Will it make a difference? The Cook Report lists NY-19 and NY-22 as Republican Toss Ups; the Incumbents won their seats in 2016 with 51% and 44% of the vote, respectively. So yes, we’ll be flipping two seats in the Empire State. Bank on it.
And down-ballot? Republican hold a one-seat majority in the state senate. Not for long!
