I’ve been a critic of these Republicans who send tweets about Trump, but end up voting with him anyways.
But Jeff Flake finally did something, which I think could spell the end of the Trump presidency. He indicated that he would not support the Kavenaugh vote without further investigation into the allegations.
Because the Senate is split, his single vote could make the difference between confirmation and not. Additionally, other Republicans (women) will feel compelled to follow his lead.
His statement forces the Senate Judicial Committee to hear the testimony of the accuser.
And its my feeling that that is never going to happen. They will force Kavenaugh to withdraw his nomination before they put the accuser on TV. Because the last thing that the Republicans want before a challenging midterms is a woman accusing Kavenaugh of assault, on TV. That surely will not play well, even if Kavenaugh is confirmed ultimately.
And so Kavenaugh will withdraw soon.
And what about Trump? Well the sole rationale for supporting this bozo is that he gets justices confirmed. Without the justices, why support him? Why shield him from inquiries? He’s truly useless.
And so Flake could be the guy that ended the Trump presidency, with a few words in an interview.
