While Christine Blasey Ford has announced her willingness to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape her in high school, the White House and Kavanaugh are stonewalling.
Their statement this morning: "On Friday, Judge Kavanaugh 'categorically and unequivocally' denied this allegation. This has not changed. Judge Kavanaugh and the White House both stand by that statement."
They are standing by the statement, and so far Chairman Chuck Grassley is playing along, still not heeding calls for a delay in the rush to confirm him, even though the Senate Judiciary Committee sat through a full two days of testimony from Kavanaugh in which he repeatedly lied to them.
He has zero credibility and probably a lot more skeletons that could come tumbling out of his closet. Which is why Grassley and the White House are still trying to brazen through here. They want this done now. They want it done before those other stories emerge. They want it done before any of the hundreds of thousands of documents about this past that they've kept hidden leak.
They don't want to end up having to withdraw this nomination because Kavanaugh is Trump's man. Remember, there were a lot of other candidates on the list for this job, and Kavanaugh wasn't even among them until late last fall, when the seriousness of the Mueller investigation became clear. Mitch McConnell even warned the White House that this guy was the least confirmable. But he's the one that says sitting presidents can't even be investigated, much less indicted or prosecuted. He's the one Trump needs. And McConnell and team are apparently willing to go down with him.

Kavanaugh is reportedly at the White House now, and has issued a new statement: “This is a completely false allegation. I have never done anything like what the accuser describes—to her or to anyone. Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday. I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the Committee deems appropriate to refute this false allegation, from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity.”
