In the Republican world, women aren’t people; they’re just pawns in their corrupt game of stealing and hoarding power. Normally they would never think about willingly giving women the mic, but with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford saying their SCOTUS-pick golden boy is a sexual abuser, they are willing to make an exception.
The Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are reportedly looking into making their female staffers question Dr. Christine Blasey Ford instead of their old, white, rich, male selves. HuffPost reports:
Three Democratic sources familiar with the committee’s planning told HuffPost that this proposal was under consideration, although so far it’s not clear whether Blasey and Kavanaugh will testify. The office of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the judiciary panel, did not return a request for comment.
“We’ve discussed various options, including hiring outside lawyers and supplementing that with senators asking questions,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a member of the committee. “So, any senator who wants to ask questions remains free to do so. But I don’t want want to get in front of the chairman.”
This is the logic of a subsection of men who just don’t get it. First of all, it’s disgusting that they want to use women as pawns in all of this. They know how disgusting they’re being and they clearly are thinking about saving their own political asses while working to tear apart Dr. Ford. Offensive questions about sexual assault are offensive—regardless of the gender of the person speaking.
I never thought I’d say this, but: let the white men speak! If they have questions as part of their jobs as public figures and leaders, they should be brave enough to ask Dr. Ford—in front of America—for themselves.
