If you throw it, we will come…
That’s the motto of most self-respecting woozles. Even the not-so-self-respecting ones. Many pooties ascribe to similar sentiments. Some birds as well. Even a few exotic animals like dolphins will retrieve a ball. But dogs are the champion retrievers. Balls, sticks, toys, sticks, tossed treats, sticks, frisbees, sticks. Every critter has his or her favorite retrievable object. Oh, did I mention STICKS?! It’s a dog-catch-whatever-is-thrown world out there. And tonight, we are venturing into their domain.
But before we start throwing our weight around, let’s pause for a brief word from the branch manager. She’s holding a staff meeting (hehehe, get it staff meeting?!) to review the Peeps rulz:
- Do not “Troll” the Pootie Peeps Diaries. If you don’t like animal diaries, there’s no need to tell us about it. Just go find some other diary more to your liking.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly. So, no pie fights please.
- If you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: 1) snakes and creepy crawlies (some folks have phobias). 2) Any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals, even in jest, are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated.
- If you’re not sure about an issue...please ask. Someone is always glad to help.
- Links to the Community Needs List or other fundraising diaries are always welcome here. Just links with a short explanation, please, and not the entire fundraising request, per the management.
PWBPeeps is a group that posts a daily diary and nightly open thread for animal lovers. We concoct silly diaries, share photos, seek & give advice about pet health and behavior issues, support each other in times of sadness and stress, celebrate together when times are good, and on most days have an inordinate amount of fun.
You are welcome to join us! Be kind to one another, we’re all in this together.

P.S. If you only watch one or two of the videos, make them 1) Dex & Molly using their ball launcher, and 2) Outfoxed on the golf course.
The Classics: Balls & Frisbees
The Basics: Sticks — Nature Provides
If a dog has a stick, s/he has a toy. Even if a human didn’t throw it, they will bring it back. In fact, just thinking about sticks gives the woozles inordinate pleasure.
We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Humans
The best games of fetch are between a dog and their human buddy. It’s a team effort. A partnership. A duo. But when the human half of the equation is unavailable, these clever dogs have learned to entertain themselves. Now, when most dog owners hear “entertain themselves” they prepare for the worst — it conjures up images of chewed up slippers or destroyed throw pillows. But fear not, these well-trained dogs are on the ball — literally.
In the first video, YouTube star Gatsby the Corgi learns how to use the ball machine.
In this second video...well, you’ll just have to watch. Dex and Molly give a whole new meaning to the term “team effort” and it’s extraordinary.
Pooties Get In On the Act
Cats seem to prefer rolling objects. Is that technically a throw? Is it technically fetch? Does catching something dangling on a string count? We aren’t sure, either. But when they so choose, pooties are enthusiastic about thrown objects. They are not generally, however, very compliant about fetching them back. Because — they’re cats. : )
Throw Fails
I have watched this about a hundred times and I still don’t know exactly what happened here. Or what the original intent was. If I had to pick which was the smartest member of this duo, I know who I would pick.
Fore: Out-Foxed On the Golf Course
My all-time favorite wild animal video. And the sweet response of these mid-western men totally enthralled with their unexpected encounter makes it all the more delightful.
Well, Peeps and critters, that’s all we’ve got. Hope you enjoyed it. I was woefully behind in “throwing together” tonight’s diary. It turned out to be a little of this, a little of that, a little scattered, some repeats from previous diaries. But count yourselves lucky. I could have taken the obvious low brow road and presented an array of doggie potty jokes or cat litter box fails — you know, Game of Thrones. Oh wait, I did. That’s next week’s diary. Forewarned is forearmed. : )
In the meanwhile, the blog conversation is now open.
