The New York Times is reporting that Rod Rosenstein proposed recording Trump, with an eye to invoking the 25th Amendment. The sources obviously were DOJ and/or White House insiders. It doesn't take much imagination to predict the right wing media's reaction. Or Trump's.
With Mueller closing in, and the Kavanaugh nomination a flaming garbage fire, it doesn’t take much imagination to guess the agenda of the source of the story. The only question is why the Times would run with it. One of the authors of the story is Michael S. Schmidt. The same Michael S. Schmidt who last winter wrote a fawning interview of Trump, and who in 2016 first made Hillary Clinton's email server a national story. In the same newspaper that just days before the 2016 election published an article claiming that the FBI saw no clear link between Trump and Russia.
Great sources the Times has. Great timing on their “reporting.” The only question about Schmidt and the Times being whether they're unwitting tools or witting.
