There is the possibility that a much bigger story exists that has been mostly dropped by the bigger news outlets. That is that Ed Whalen, who crafted his conspiracy theory of mistaken identity and Garrett Ventry, Grassley's spokesman, who just resigned Saturday due to sexual assault allegations, coordinated. Whalen used to work for the CRC, and Ventry was working at the CRC as late as July. CRC is the PR firm famous for bring us the Swift Boat Veterans in 2004 against John Kerry. Current clients for the CRC include the Judicial Crisis Network, a right wing group who reportedly created the letter from 65 women in support of Kavanaugh after Ford's allegations became public within a day, as reported by The Guardian. Another client is the Federalist Society, who coordinated the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh with the White House, and other conservative groups working on his confirmation.
Whalen and Kavanaugh are decades long friends. Kavannaugh visited Senator Orrin Hatch on Tuesday privately and discussed the mistaken identity theory. Hatch then was questioned and famously said Ford was "mixed up." Hatch's spokesman, Matt Whitlock, tweeted to watch Whalen's twitter feed prior to tweets coming out, later deleted his own tweets, and claimed he knew nothing about the theory, which was carried by Fox and still is being promoted. It is entirely possible that Hatch, Grassley, Whalen, Ventry and the WH and potentially Kavanaugh himself were coordinating this. If so, they are all implicated and Grassley and Hatch should be forced to resign, and investigations should begin into the matter. And of course Kavanaugh should be asked under oath, and if implicated, should withdraw as a candidate for the Supreme Court, because he has denied any knowledge publicly. The big question here is why did Whalen look at Ford's Linked In account prior to her going public with her allegations against Kavanaugh? At that time, only the White House knew, prior to the Post publishing the story.
Why aren’t major media outlets investigating these connections? It isn't hard to connect the dots here.
